Make Sure Your Goals Are S.M.A.R.T.

I believe in life motivation, sometimes it would give encouragement in pursuing your life, but most of the time, motivation came about setting up goals in life and a milestone to carve, here’s an article by Phillip Woodson on setting a goal using S.M.A.R.T techniques. I believe some of the management level have apply this techniques and i myself have been taught with this techniques in INTAN which is an institute that provides training and education to public services.

However, here’s a pic on SMART “big foot”!! heheh…just to attract your eyeballs

By Phillip Woodson

We all have goals in our lives and I think it’s safe to say that we all want to see our goals become reality. You may not do goal-setting exercises and you may not write out your goals, but I can promise you that you do have goals. You may want a better life, a faster or nicer car, a bigger house, more money, more time, a better job, or anything else. These are all goals.

Since some of our goals come to fruition and some don’t, many people might wonder what it is that makes the difference. Well, there are many different theories about goal-setting and I’m sure there is some accuracy in all of them. What I am writing about here is the attribute that makes goals more achievable.

So what is this attribute, this quality, this special something that will make your goal more achievable? It’s called making your goals SMART. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Time-oriented. So what does this mean?

Specific – You’re goal must be specific. If you set your goal as “I want more money” and you find a $100 bill on the ground, then your goal has been achieved, although that is probably not what you meant by more money. This is why you must be specific about your goal. If you want to earn an extra $100,000 this year then your goal must be “I want to earn an extra $100,000.”

Measurable – This means that you must have a way of measuring when your goal is achieved. If your goal is to lose 20 pounds, you can easily measure that goal with a scale. If your goal is to be a happier person, you need to ask yourself, “How will I know when I am a happier person?” You should always have a way of measuring the completion of your goal.

Actionable – You must have some way of taking action to get closer to your goal’s completion. If you have a goal that you just can’t take action towards, then the likelihood of your goal become reality is much less than if you can help create it. If your goal is to find your ideal mate, then you must create a way of finding this person. Where can you go to meet him or her? When will you go? With whom will you go?

Realistic – Your goals must be realistic. If your goal is to become a famous actor, then you need to make sure that you are realistically able to do so. If you are living on a farm in the country and you don’t know anyone in the movie business, then the chances of you becoming a famous actor are not as good as they would be if you lived in a city where there is a large acting community. This is also closely related to your goals being actionable.

Time-oriented – This is a very important aspect of SMART goals. You must set a deadline for your goals. You can set goals for a matter of weeks, months, or even years. If you want to meet your ideal partner, get a new car, buy a house, get a new job, or anything else – set a deadline. This deadline must be realistic. If your goal is to lose 20 pounds it may not be realistic to set a one-week deadline. However if you set out to lose exactly 20 pounds within 3 months by exercising 4 days per week for 1 hour and eating a low-fat diet filled with nutritious foods and you follow through with it, then you will be certain that in 3 months you will be 20 pounds slimmer.

These five key aspects of goals will make your goals more achievable and more motivating. Your goals will be easier to attain and you may even find your goals coming to fruition before the deadline that you’ve set. So either now or the next time you set a goal, make sure the goal is SMART.

Wow, its Proton Gen-2 Hybrid!!!

I don’t know, maybe i had to post this out, its a proton gen-2 hybrid develop by Proton and Lotus Engineering…and its a hybrid by using EVE, which stands for Efficient, Viable, Environmental. The Gen-2 still uses the Proton’s 1.6 liter Campro engine plus a 30 kilowatt (40 horsepower) electric motor. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) gearbox is on the hybrid petrol-electric drive train that drives using the front wheel. I found this post on the Motoring blogger columnist Paul Tan. He got lots of reviews on automobile industries in Malaysia.

The next thing is that….hehe i drive gen-2 too…check out the cool pictures of gen-2 hybrid interior/exterior. If you want to read more on the reviews of this awesome gen-2 hybrid by Paul Tan…then you will have to click here

Workers in Developed Countries are Not Creating Wealth

by :J. Watanabe

Many of those in developed countries fear that emerging economies like India and China would take over the leadership in the world economy in foreseeable future. You can spend hours, days, weeks or even months discussing why this can possibly happen, but the simple fact is that the vast majority of people in emerging economies work hard and honestly and they try to get something out of their hard work. I have been in India for the last couple of months and I have seen how people work. It is a bit of exaggeration to say that most people in developed countries do not work hard or honestly, but too many people work in such ways that they do not exactly contribute to the development of their economies.

First, too many people in developed countries do nothing; they do not work. I am personally for social programs such as tax-funded healthcare and tax-funded education, but the simple fact is that too many people rely on those social programs and do not work; furthermore, social programs in some countries are too generous. For example, UK has some of the most generous social programs and its government just hands out cash to too many people; the government does not hand out just enough cash for people to survive but it hands out more than enough to them so that they can even entertain themselves.

Second, too many people in developed countries force them to feel content while they work for good hours. Not everyone has to have ambition to become a billionaire, Read more »

It costs 1.2 cents to make a penny (1 cent)!

Now all the currencies in the world have value only because everybody who uses them agrees they have value. The RMB, for example, is rarely accepted in the United States because of rampant counterfeiting and capital controls by the Chinese government. The USD, one of the most counterfeited currency in the world, is accepted by everybody without question because it is THE currency of trade and commerce in the world (simply because the oil states have agreed to trade oil in USD).

The SGD was not widely accepted in the early days of its use too. It was with great pride then, that I found the SGD accepted at the Leonardo da Vinci airport back in 1991 (but not the MYR!) Today, despite the Singapore government’s refusal to internationalise the SGD, it remains a currency of choice in countries like Indonesia (especially in islands like Batam and Bintan).

Now, one of the reasons why counterfeit currency is never found in smaller denominations comes from the fact that there’s a production cost involved in making the notes. The more sophisticated the anti-counterfeiting technology used, the more Read more »
